This terrific box looks like a miniature of the famous Roman Coliseum! It stood over 160 feet high and could hold 50,000 people who were there to watch the gladiator fights and wild animal hunts. Today it stands in ruins but is still a popular landmark. Painted inside the box is a cat - perhaps a reminder of the ancient animal hunts?? The box is marked Artoria Peint Main, Limoges France and is signed and numbered by the artist. Approximate size is 2¾ x 2 inches.
